Two Men...One Happily Ever After

Jaymes- Aeryn's Muse

May  1, 2009   02:24 GMT

Hello One and All,

It has been a long and disasterous winter for Aeryn. I have been asked not to belabor the specifics only to say that even the best laid plans can go horribly awry. The past six months have been very difficult to put it mildly and I’d like to thank all those who sent hugs and best wishes. They indeed helped more than words can say.

Unfortunately the crisis prevented any writing from being done since mid January. Aeryn has finally returned to the evil day job and begun the task of rebuilding. I have been stockpiling ideas so when we are once again in accord that spinning tales for the benefit of others appeals to Aeryn we can pick up quill and parchment and begin again. Aeryn has assured me this is simply a set back and not an end to the pursuit of the dream to be published.  Our planned trip to the Lori Foster’s Readers and Authors Get Together in June gives me hope we are indeed ready to take up the gauntlet once again.

That’s all for now. I’ll be giving you all a report of our trip to Ohio in June. It is my sincere hope this will reawaken Aeryn’s desire to entertain with the written word and we will be spending the rest of the year making up for lost time.

Greetings!

There is such news to share I’m not sure where to start!

First, I am officially Aeryn’s muse. And while I am excited about the change in my status I am a bit intimidated by the amount of work waiting to be completed. Aeryn informed me shortly after announcing I have a permanent home that there are nearly 80 works in progress with a few ideas floating around that haven’t made it to paper or the computer. WHEW!

Secondly, I was informed that I have been loaned out to a friend for the remainder of the winter. This came as a complete shock since I was not aware a muse could be sent willy nilly like that. But being the supportive muse that I am I will gladly go to this Lisa Alexander Griffin’s dwelling for the winter. If Aeryn has 80 works in progress I am relatively certain there will be no need for my services in the immediate future. Unconventional Love has been a bugger. Seems the main characters are posing a bit of a problem. Then again it is my experience that were shifters rarely take to the collar without putting up a fight. Hardware Assistance has been critiqued, torn apart and critiqued again so I do believe it will be in the hands of Faith Bicknell Brown for editing by the end of December. As will First Contact. Most of Aeryn’s beta’s agree with me the piece is expertly done but there are a few who don’t agree so it is going thru another round of critiques. Love Conquers All has been a difficult piece to nail down. Intended as a novella it has grown to 55k and Aeryn is completely rethinking it’s direction. I’m certain it will be waiting for me when I return in April. The best news in regards Aeryn’s works in progress is The Helios Trilogy. It is on track and as of today already has nearly 6k written on the first two novels. This too will be waiting when I return in the spring. But I am confident it will be a completed rough draft of a three novel trilogy.

I am packed and ready to leave so I will bid everyone adieu.

Warmest Regards and Happy Holidays!

Felicitations,

I am pleased to say that my contract has been extended and I will be Aeryn’s temporary muse for at least the next 90 days. Seems Delfyn and Ralph are having a bit of good luck in a place called Las Vegas and have no intention of returning until they run out of chips. I’m told that could take awhile. Since getting the good news I have been pushing Aeryn a bit to get a few more pieces completed so we can move on to a novel trilogy.

The Ghost Story was finished over the labor day weekend and is going thru a final round of critiques before the subbing process begins in earnest on October 1st. The first round of edits for Unconventional Love did not go well, much to my disappointment, but it is one of three pieces actively being worked as we speak. Aeryn is attempting to write a Sweet Romance short story for an anthology. It is called Love Heals Old Wounds and is a rather charming tale of two men who are worlds apart but love worms its way into their cracked veneer. And lastly there is the novella Love Conquers All. It is the story of a young man who was raped and after several years has worked up the confidence to pursue a relationship with a world renowned survivalist. It is a love story that honestly had me in tears. Rather embarrassing to admit, but there we are. Aeryn surprises me sometimes when the ideas I propose get turned into something beyond anything I could have imagined. It’s hard to fathom a happily ever after for the young man but Aeryn pulled it off and without my help I might add.

The Helios Trilogy, has been outlined, storyboarded and set up to be written starting December 1st. I’m a bit nervous about these three books. They are the last of the old WIP from when Delfyn was calling the shots. We’ll have to see how things work out. I’m not going to guarantee success but I do have a contract that says I will do everything in my power to help my client bring worthy prose to the masses.

So, until next time,

Cheers,

Jaymes

Salutations All,

First off, welcome to the website! I am pleased you dropped in. It took a lot to covince Aeryn to put aside the writing and concentrate on promoting for a change. Hope this doesn't get back to the folks at F.G.& M, Inc. or I am definitely going to have some explaining to do. The placement people at Fairy GodParents and Muses Incorporated advertise that we muses get results even if we have to kick ass to get them. Being a temp muse makes it even more difficult. I go back to the agency after Labor Day weekend and Delfyn returns with Ralph from her extended vacation. So far I can take credit for helping Aeryn complete  "My Prince", the first of many novels, as well as several short stories. The sci-fi short "First Contact", a contemporary romance short "Hardware Assistance" and a paranormal short "Unconventional Love" are all in edits and set to be subbed later this year. There are a number of other shorts being worked as well as two novels but I was told I couldn't mention those yet since they are not far enough along to even have titles. I still have six weeks left  on my contract so we'll see if I can't get Aeryn back on track and have these finished before I depart.  Well, I see Aeryn is angrily deleting something off the laptop and that is usually a sign my help is required to keep things on schedule so I'll say good day for now.

Regards,

Jaymes
